Kindergarten to Grade 5 students at an Elementary School Music Class had a unique learning opportunity when a well seasoned Bluesman came to teach about blues music.
“It’s really wonderful to be able to bring the Blues to the young ones,” says musician Tas Cru. Tas hopes to create a new group of blues lovers, introducing hundreds of students to the unique rhythms and patterns of blues music. “It allows for a bit of music improvisation. You don’t stick to a melody. There is a playfulness,” Cru answered when asked about what his favorite part of the blues. Blues in the Schools is a integral program that’s part of the Blues Foundation's mission. The presentation also provides a valuable history lesson and is well documented and deeply rooted into the Americana experience.
